Contracting COVID-19 can increase the likelihood of individuals over 50 developing shingles.
Shingles is a disease caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox; if you had chickenpox, you might be at risk of getting shingles later in life.
People might feel pain, itching, or tingling in the area where the rash will appear. This can happen several days before the rash shows up. People may also have a fever before the rash appears.
Symptoms may include:
– Pain, itching, or tingling in the area where the rash will develop
– Fever
– Headache
– Chills
– Stomach ache
– Rash and blisters on one side of the body
Shingles vaccination.
The Shingrix vaccine can protect 97% of adults between 50 and 69 years old and 91% of people over 70 years old.
Shingrix vaccine may help prevent postherpetic neuralgia (persistent pain).
Stay alert for the signs!
